Monday Moral Dilemma Devotional #5
This is another in our series of moral dilemma devotions to help your family talk about how they’ll demonstrate their faith in real life.
It was Becky’s birthday! Her parents invited a bunch of Becky’s friends over to their house to celebrate. Her friends sang to her, gave her gifts, and ate pieces of her birthday cake. At the end of the night, Becky said goodbye to her friends and realized that her house was a total mess. There was a pile of wrapping paper, packaging, and dishes all over the place – not to mention the crumbs all over the floor.
Becky decided that since it was her birthday she was not going to do anything to clean up. Without a word to her parents, she went upstairs to her room and went to bed.
The next morning, the house was totally clean.
Becky’s Mom made Becky some eggs and bacon for breakfast. She even packed Becky a lunch for school. Since the night before had run so late, Becky woke up with less time than usual to get ready for school. Becky decided that since she was running a little late, she would rush out the door and not worry about the dishes from her breakfast.
When she got home from school at the end of the day, her dishes were washed and put away.
It was Becky’s job to take their dog for a walk when she got home from school, but since she had been assigned a lot of homework and she was getting picked up by a friend for soccer practice in an hour, she went up to her room instead. She came downstairs just in time to go to soccer practice. As she headed for the door, she noticed the dog had gone to the bathroom on the floor of their living room, but since Becky’s friend was there to pick her up, Becky walked out the door without a word.
When she got home the dog’s mess had been all cleaned up.
